The ELV (Electronic Steering Column Lock) is a component prone to self-occurring mechanical failure. This failure is independent of any other vehicle fault — when the ELV fails, the vehicle will not start even with a fully functional key, as the steering column lock cannot be activated. In normal circumstances, a new ELV unit would need to be installed and programmed into the vehicle by an authorized dealer.

The steering lock is one of the most frequently reported issues in Peugeot and Citroën starting systems. Rather than replacing the OEM unit at significant cost, this emulator provides a cost-effective alternative — simply plug it in and start the vehicle. No programming is required.

This emulator directly replaces faulty PSA ESCL units and is compatible with PSA vehicles featuring Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) and FT-CAN systems from 2011 onward.

Installation Instructions

1. Turn off the ignition
2. Connect the ESL connector to the emulator
3. The SCL operates upon receiving open and close signals
4. Press the start button — the green LED will illuminate on successful activation. If the red LED flashes, an error is present and must be cleared using a compatible diagnostic tool
